Child care is necessary for parents—particularly mothers—to work and earn an income, yet it has become an increasingly crushing expense for families with young children. Over the past two decades, the cost of child care has more than doubled, while wages have remained mostly stagnant. Child care is the care and supervision of a child or multiple children at a time, whose ages range from six weeks to thirteen years. Child care is the action or skill of looking after children by a day-care center, nannies, babysitter, teachers or other providers. Child care is a broad topic that covers a wide spectrum of professionals, institutions, contexts, activities, and social and cultural conventions.
A Colonoscopy is a medical procedure that examines the large bowel. A colonoscopy can be used to look for colon polyps or bowel cancer and to help diagnose symptoms such as unexplained diarrhoea, abdominal pain or blood in the stool. Early cancers and polyps can be removed at the same time.
Endoscopy is commonly performed in adults, paediatric endoscopy is not available in many of our referral centres. Upper GI endoscopy is a useful diagnostic tool in children. Where specialized paediatric endoscopy units are not feasible i.e. developing countries, endoscopic services to children can be safely provided in adult endoscopy suite with or without sedation. Upper GI endoscopy is well tolerated by children even without sedation.General gastroenterologists supported by paediatricians can provide endoscopic services for children safely and promptly in their local hospital. This is appropriate for the management of common gastrointestinal problems affecting children.
Laparoscopy is a type of surgical procedure that allows a surgeon to access the inside of the abdomen (tummy) and pelvis without having to make large incisions in the skin. This procedure is also known as keyhole surgery or minimally invasive surgery. Large incisions can be avoided during laparoscopy because the surgeon uses an instrument called a laparoscope. This is a small tube that has a light source and a camera, which relays images of the inside of the abdomen or pelvis to a television monitor.
